Background

Fourteen years across five categories of enterprise software. Started at Oracle NetSuite when ERP was the new layer most companies were still figuring out. Moved through ZoomInfo as sales intelligence emerged as its own category, Zendesk as customer service was being rebuilt around the modern web, Netlify as developer tools moved into platform engineering, Databricks in the Enterprise Digital Natives vertical as data and AI infrastructure became the substrate everything else runs on.

The throughline across the five was commercial pattern recognition. The same sales discipline, applied to five different buying environments. What enterprise procurement asks at Oracle NetSuite is different from what a Series A founder asks at Netlify. The repetitions across all of it form the basis of how I think about commercial operations now.

I left enterprise selling because I wanted to be on the part of the conversation where the work happens. Selling commercial software gave me access to thousands of operating teams over the years, and the same pattern kept showing up: the constraint sits in the system around the team. The teams I most enjoyed working with were small commercial teams who knew something was broken and needed help thinking it through and then building the fix. jackson and branson is set up to be that help.

One discipline applied across five categories of software is an unusual consulting background. Most people doing this work went deep on a single vertical or built a practice around a methodology. The repetition across five buying environments is what I bring to the table: what enterprise procurement asks at an ERP company and what a founder asks at a developer tools company are different questions, and I've answered both for years. Each engagement ends with systems running in your business and documentation your team can extend.
